Touch, Interact, Play and Eat at Rockwood’s 2009 Science Expo
The Rockwood School District presents the third annual Science Expo Saturday, Sept. 26 at Eureka High School (4525 Highway 109 in Eureka) from 1 – 5 p.m. This unique districtwide expo is an interactive event that features hands-on exhibits for all ages.
In addition to viewing hundreds of science fair projects from students throughout the district, exhibitors can: explore how the mind can play tricks on you; experience fatal vision and why it is so dangerous to drink and drive; and confirm or bust many fascinating science “mythbusting theories.”
“The Science Expo offers families an opportunity to completely engage in every type of science,” says Mike Szydlowski, Coordinator of Science, K-12. “Whether you’re interested in animals, physics, chemistry or just really cool science, all ages will find something they love to play and interact with!” “This entire event is like a giant science playground,” Szydlowski adds.
Other exhibits include:
Explore dinosaur models and replicas found at dig sites.
Toy with gravity in the Dino Bounce.
Pet a camel, mule, snake, chicken and more animals at the Petting Zoo.
Eat edible bug suckers, BBQ worms and space ice cream.
Observe a leaf blower hovercraft in action.
Walk inside a 22’ model of the Earth.
Experience the explosive side of chemistry.
Play with lasers, optics, electrical displays and force.
There are over 50 exhibits at the expo, and several thousand people are expected to attend this year.
